Most golf courses in Majorca belong to the "Majorca - Golf" brand which guarantees excellent facilities and customer care. All 19 of these golf courses have taken care to align themselves to the eco-tourism of the island. About 79,000 golfers, according to a survey, visited Majorca in 2001 to play golf, so basically golf courses in Majorca are incredibly popular. It is recommended to book your tee times in advance of your holiday and peak golf season in Majorca is from October to May! In the hot summer months early tee times are recommended for obvious reasons - the heat!
Cycling hotspots include the west coast of Mallorca, especially around Deia and Valldemossa where the climbing Tramuntana mountains offer plenty of challenges for cyclists. Further north prime cycling territory is to be had around Pollenca, and back into the Tramuntana from Alcudia and the Bay of Alcudia. Popular stop off points for cyclists include Pollenca and Arta.
Fishing, is another favourite, again you will find many companies or with fully equipped private charters boats around the ports in the main tourist resorts. These companies will take you out for the day for Big Game fishing. Then there is windsurfing, scuba diving and the usual tourist watersports (para-sailing, banana boats, water skiing and jet skiing).
If history and culture appeal then go to Palma and find the La Llotja. This is a prime example of Gothic Architecture that was built around the end of the 11th century. The National Heritage museum that is located in Palma, has views overlooking the city including the cathedral. This was formally a Palace in the 14th century and was originally built as an Islamic fortress. The La Granja Museum will definitely be fun and entertainment for all the family, people of all ages. It is a living museum, actors are dressed in periodic costume and go about there daily lives as if it were centuries ago.
During the winter months, the island's cultural life is enriched by an opera season, the Ciudad de Palma Symphony Orchestra concerts or a programme of events entitled A Winter in Mallorca. Meanwhile, in summer, there are festivals of open-air classical music and recitals of modern music, jazz, ballet or theatre.
The Mallorca caves are another great attraction; there are over 200 on the island. Unfortunately only a small amount of these caves are open to the public, the caves of Drach being the most notable. This is considered to be a masterpiece of nature and known all over the world. Once there, you will be taken inside and explore Lake Martel, the largest subterranean lake in the world. You will be able to attend an underground classical concert with lights and music. The experience is very spectacular and very impressive.
One of the most popular evening attractions in the south of the island, for all ages and all Nationalities - is the Pirates Adventure (Els Pirates), which is based on the outskirts of Magaluf. It takes the form of a Dinner/Show with a pirate theme, and has short dialogues in English throughout.
Also in Majorca you will find a few theme, water and Amusement parks that are a great day out for all. Aquacity near Magalus is a fabulous water park. This is a giant complex with death defying slides, thrilling rides for older kids and some tamer ones for the toddlers. Its facilities include state of the art attractions such as the Boomerang and the Tornado. The Mini Park, the water park for children, includes the brand new Enchanted Castle among other modern attractions. The Tornado has a tubular water slide that sweeps you down to a giant funnel / whirlpool, where you will be whirled by the power of the water and finally thrown down into a swimming pool. Marineland is a popular tourist attraction theme park with lots of animals', mainly marine life. The park is a good breeding land and has bred a lot of the animals themselves. There is also a fantastic dolphin and sea lions show! One of the newest attractions in Calvia is the Western Park. It's the combination of both a water park and a Wild West theme park.
